Kevin Stewart, MD
Kevin Stewart, MD is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist and comprehensive ophthalmologist who has lived in the US Virgin Islands with his wife and children for 9 years.
After completing a BS in Biochemistry at the University of Washington, graduate school at Chicago Medical School, and residency at New York Medical College, Dr. Stewart completed fellowship training in glaucoma at the renowned New York University’s Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. He then served as the Assistant Director of Glaucoma Services at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and was appointed Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at NY Medical College in 2007. In various institutions in New York, he trained residents to perform cataract and glaucoma surgery. He has authored numerous academic papers and lectured worldwide on the medical and surgical treatment of various eye diseases.
Jesse Pelletier, MD FACS
Jesse Pelletier, MD completed his residency at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and received fellowship training in cornea/refractive surgery from the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Florida. He remains affiliated with the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and the Miami- Veterans Administration as a Voluntary Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology. Serving in this capacity, his responsibilities includes surgical training of residents, clinic supervision, and clinical research within the ophthalmology and cornea divisions.
Jonathan Leon-Rosen, MD
Jonathan Leon-Rosen, MD is a fellowship-trained Oculoplastic surgeon who specializes in functional, cosmetic and oncologic plastic surgery of the face and eyelids, as well as general Ophthalmology. He attended Stony Brook University as an undergraduate where he graduated cum laude. He went on to earn his medical degree at Downstate University. Dr. Leon Rosen completed his internship in General Surgery at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Miami, FL. He then completed his residency at the world renowned New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He stayed at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, completing a fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery. He currently divides his time between offices in Miami and the US Virgin Islands.
Adam Jacobowitz, MD
Adam Jacobowitz, MD is an ocular inflammation, uveitis, and immunology specialist. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Dr. Jacobowitz attended Union College in Schenectady, New York, and graduated cum laude with a dual Bachelors of Science in Biology and Psychology. After a year of clinical research in the field of genetics and addiction at the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Jacobowitz pursued his medical degree at SUNY Brooklyn, obtaining additional training in clinical pediatrics before his residency in Ophthalmology. Upon completion of his surgical training, Adam was invited to perform his fellowship in the field of uveitis and ocular immunology at the prestigious Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins University, after which he became board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Jacobowitz resides in Miami where he practices comprehensive Ophthalmology. He is pleased to extend his clinical experience to the local community in the US Virgin Islands.
Samuel B. Barone, MD
Samuel B. Barone, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon. After graduating from The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, he served as a physician in the US Air Force providing primary care to the members of the flying community, often in remote and austere locations such as the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan. He then completed an ophthalmology residency at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary where he served as Chief Resident, and a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at University of California San Diego. He also has interests in clinical drug development and spent 5 years at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) rising to the level of Senior Medical Officer. He continues to hold leadership and consultative positions in biopharma industry leveraging his experience planning, executing, and managing clinical and translational activities across a broad range of indications along the drug development pathway. He joined Plessen Ophthalmology to serve the local community in 2019.
Ria Lutchmeesingh, OD
Ria Lutchmeesingh, OD completed her Bachelors of Science in Ferris State University and completed Doctor of Optometry at Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry in 2003. She did her externship in Puerto Rico and Florida.
Jennifer Murdock, M.D.
Dr.Jennifer Murdock is an Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who specializes in aesthetic and functional procedures around the eyes and face. As a plastic surgeon, she is able to blend her passion for both the arts and science. This unique combination began at the University of Miami, where she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Marine Science with a minor in art history, which included a semester studying notable original pieces of artwork in Paris. She then applied her science background to clinic research, studying novel medial, laser, injectable, and surgical techniques within UM’s Department of Cosmetic Medicine.
While completing her medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Murdock also participated in the Department of Community Service (DOCS), which provided free medical screening to many underprivileged communities in South Florida. She spearheaded an educational project with a professional film director and crew to create a documentary series about the culture, medical needs, and health care gaps within these diverse communities.
Dr. Murdock returned to her hometown of Houston to complete a residency in ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine. During residency, Dr. Murdock found her passion for advancing education by teaching medical trainees in both didactic and hands-on clinical and surgical settings. She was then selectively chosen from a highly competitive group of applicants to join the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with fellowship training at Oregon Health and Science University. There, she performed thousands of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the face, eyelids, tear drainage system, and orbits in both adults and children alike.
Dr. Jennifer Murdock is currently a board-certified ophthalmologist (ABO) and certified by the ASOPRS Oculofacial Society. She has a particular interest in aesthetic procedures around the eyes, endoscopic brow lifts, cosmetic injections of the face and under the eyes, eyelid and orbital reconstruction, pediatric ophthalmic plastic surgery, and complicated orbital inflammatory disorders, including thyroid eye disease. She recently participated in an FDA multi-center study investigating a new treatment for thyroid eye disease and now is currently a sought-out consultant for her expertise in the field. She has published in medical journals and textbooks and has repeatedly been invited to present at ASOPRS scientific meetings, aesthetic conferences, and other international symposia. She is a frequently faculty speaker for cosmetic medicine conferences, and she serves as adjunct faculty for the Larkin Community Hospital Ophthalmology Residency Program.
Dr. Murdock continues her passion for the arts and is an avid supporter of South Florida’s art and fashion culture. She has been recognized as one of the Top 30 Influential Women in Houston 2022, Best in Texas Magazine Excellence in Medicine, Texas Monthly’s Texas Top Doctor: Rising Stars in 2022 and 2023, and Castle Connelly Top Doctors every year since 2022.
Jamie Houser, O.D.
Dr. Jamie Houser is a therapeutic optometrist and certified glaucoma specialist who graduated magna cum laude with her BS in Biomedical science from Texas A&M University. She then graduated summa cum laude and among the top in her class from the University of Houston, College of Optometry in 2009. During her doctoral education, she received extensive training in the areas of corneal diseases and treatment, retinal diseases such as diabetes and glaucoma, and vision therapy from some of the top doctors in the Houston area. She also enjoys complex contact lens fits and working with children. She has received many awards, including Excellence in Family Practice, Excellence in Contact Lens, and the Dr. Zipper Award for Leadership and Character. In addition, she is an active member of several state and local optometric organizations such as the American Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association, and the Harris County Optometric Society.
Jody Plitz-Seymour, M.D.
Dr. Piltz-Seymour has been a clinical researcher throughout her career. She served as principal investigator for several studies, including the Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study, the Collaborative Initial Glaucoma Treatment Study, and the Low-Tension Glaucoma Study.
After receiving her medical degree and ophthalmology training from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, she performed her Glaucoma Fellowship at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
Traveling with Orbis, Unite for Sight, and the Wills Eye Hospital initiative in Rwanda, Dr. Piltz-Seymour has worked with physicians to advance glaucoma care in the developing world, including Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Rwanda, and Vietnam. Collaboratively, she helped develop a comprehensive didactic glaucoma curriculum on the Orbis portal, CyberSight, which can be live streamed internationally and viewed online. Through the CyberSight portal, Dr. Piltz-Seymour lectures virtually, reaching physicians around the globe. In 2016 she was honored with the Humanitarian of the Year award from the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Piltz-Seymour has leadership roles in the major US and international societies, chairing and serving on program committees for AGS, ASCRS, WGC and AAO. Along with Dale Heuer, she has moderated the spirited Super Bowl of Grand Rounds at AGS for more than a decade. She has received the 2019 American Glaucoma Society Educator of the Year Award, as well as an Achievement Award, Senior Achievement Award, and Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She has also been named “Top Doctor” by Philadelphia Magazine/Castle-Connolly.

Alfred Anduze, MD is an ophthalmologist in Christiansted, US Virgin Islands. He received his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine, completed his residency at Georgetown University, has written numerous medical articles and textbooks and has been in practice for more than 35 years.
